I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but shouldn't we save freeway right of ways for the possibility of express commuter trains and not in-town transit. I live quite a ways out in the suburbs, so I have no desire to ever take a train that stops every little bit and gets bogged down by city traffic. In-town trains should obviously serve walkable nodes.
Agreed. I'm not a fan of heavy commuter rail, but if do start building it, the Westpark corridor is perfect and needs to be kept open all the way in to the Main St. LRT, so there will only be one transfer to get downtown or to the TMC.
An open dialogue on serious strategies for making Houston a better city, as well as a coalition-builder to make them happen. All comments, email, and support welcome.
