Engineering City USA, Houston - we may have a warp drive, #1 city for college grads, and more
Just a few quick smaller items this week:- How to Fund Transit Without Raising Fares or Cutting Service. Good stuff. Hat tip to Nathan.
- Faster-than-light warp drive may be invented at JSC in Houston! How incredibly cool would that be?!
- Houston ranked as the #1 best city for recent college graduates.
- A GHP analysis shows that Houston is #2 in the country for engineers with 59,000 and a concentration of 22 out of every 1,000 employees. We're second to LA in sheer number (they have 70k), and second to Silicon Valley for concentration (they have 45 per 1,000). Not bad, not bad at all. The high incomes of engineers are definitely a major driver of the Houston economy. And it's why I think engineering should be part of our city identity (more support here).
